Monte Capanne (1,019 m) is the highest point of Isola d'Elba — a granite summit above the mineral-rich island where Napoleon was exiled in 1814–15. The summit view encompasses Corsica (40 km), the Tuscan Archipelago islands (Capraia, Pianosa, Giglio), the Apuan Alps and Monte Amiata. A basket cable car from Marciana reaches just below the summit. Dogs allowed on the trail approach.
