Isola di Bergeggi

Just offshore from the village of Bergeggi, this small rocky island and its surrounding waters form one of Liguria's smaller marine protected areas, home to a sea cave that can be explored by kayak or snorkel in calm conditions. The mainland coastal path looking out toward the island passes through pine and Mediterranean scrub with some of the clearest water on this stretch of coast below. A ruined medieval hermitage sits on the island itself, visible but generally off-limits to casual visits.
