The Grotte di Toirano near Borghetto Santo Spirito contain the footprints of cave bears and Palaeolithic humans (30,000–18,000 years old), preserved in clay. The Grotta della Basura contains human footprints that walked the cave floor 12,000 years ago. The stalactite and stalagmite formations are spectacular. One of the richest prehistoric cave sites in Italy.
