The Grotta di Nettuno at Capo Caccia near Alghero is accessible only by boat from Alghero harbour or by descending the Escala del Cabirol (654 steps cut into the cliff face). The cave opens at sea level — waves lap at the entrance. Inside, a series of chambers with stalactite columns are reflected in an underground lake 120 m long.
