Friuli-Venezia Giulia

The Grotta di Villanova near Faedis in the Friulian pre-Alps is an active cave with an underground river — 6 km explored, 700 m open to visitors. Stalactites and stalagmites are still actively growing. According to medieval Friulian legend, a dragon that terrorised Cividale (the first Lombard capital) lived in this cave.
