Grotta di Monte Cucco
Umbria
Explored since the 1950s, this system plunges over 900 metres deep, making it one of the country's most significant caves, with guided tours covering the accessible upper galleries of stalactites and underground streams. The mountain above is equally known among hang-glider pilots for its reliable thermals launching from the plateau. Wolves and golden eagles inhabit the surrounding regional park.
