Grotta di Frasassi — Gola di Frasassi

The Grotte di Frasassi are the largest cave system in Italy — 13 km of mapped passages with chambers up to 200 m wide. The cave tour (1.5 hours, dogs not allowed inside) shows the extraordinary stalactite formations. The gorge outside the cave entrance — the Gola di Frasassi — is equally spectacular: sheer limestone walls with eagle owl, peregrine and Alpine swift all nesting. Dogs welcome in the gorge.
