Grotta del Vernino

A short walk from the village of Genga, the Grotta del Vernino offers a smaller, less crowded alternative to the vast Frasassi cave system a few kilometres away, with chambers of stalactites and flowstone on a more intimate scale. It's part of the same limestone massif carved by the Sentino river system. The approach through oak scrub is pleasant even if you skip the cave itself.
