Grignetta (Grigna Meridionale)

Rising sheer above the Piani dei Resinelli, Grignetta's needle-like pinnacles have drawn climbers since the birth of Italian alpinism, with routes first pioneered by Riccardo Cassin in the 1930s. The trail up from the Resinelli plateau winds through beech woods before breaking onto exposed limestone scree beneath towers with names like the Fungo and the Sigaro. On clear days the summit ridge offers a startling drop straight down to Lake Como and across to the Bergamasque Alps.
