Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi

The Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi at 2,388 m on Gran Sasso is the starting point for Corno Grande attempts. Even without the summit, the walk to the rifugio from Santo Stefano di Sessanio is exceptional — limestone ridges, Campo Imperatore plateau and, reliably, chamois grazing on the rocky slopes.
