Where the Carboj leaves the Lago Arancio it has sawn a slot into soft gypsum, dropping over a broad ledge into a jade pool — the Gole della Tardara. A rough path from the road follows the stream between the pale walls; the ancient Greek site of Monte Adranone and the lake's Zabut castle are close by.
