Gole del Sammaro, Sacco

The Sammaro carves a slot barely a few metres wide through the mountain between Sacco and Roscigno Vecchia, the abandoned "ghost village". A rough path threads the gorge past the Grotta di San Michele hermitage and clear green pools, in deep shade even at midday, before climbing to one of the two villages at either end.
