Gole del Raganello

Accessed from San Lorenzo Bellizzi on the Basilicata side, this gorge drops between sheer walls over 500 metres deep in places, with the trail threading past potholes, waterfalls and the narrow Barile passage. Griffon vultures have been reintroduced to the surrounding cliffs, and the canyon ranks among the deepest in the Apennines. Guides are recommended for the full traverse due to sudden water level changes.
