The Gola della Rossa above Fabriano in the Monti Sibillini foothills is a 200 m limestone gorge with the Esino river below — red in the afternoon light, giving the gorge its name. The Eremo di San Lorenzo, a hermit's cave sanctuary carved in the gorge wall (1100 AD), is accessible from the gorge path. Eagle owl breeding on the opposite cliff. Peregrine. Dogs off-leash.
