Gola dell'Infernaccio, Marche

Marche

The Gola dell'Infernaccio above Montemonaco in the Sibillini cuts 400 m into the limestone — one of the deepest gorges in the Apennines. The hermit Padre Ugolino lived in a cave inside the gorge for decades until his death in 2001. The path follows the Tenna river on ropes and handholds through the narrowest sections. Golden eagle and peregrine on the cliffs. Trout in the clear pools.
