The Gola del Salinello near Civitella del Tronto in Teramo province cuts through limestone below the Gran Sasso — a slot canyon with the Eremo di San Gabriele (the saint of youth, one of Italy's most visited shrines) at the entrance. The gorge narrows to a few metres above. Chamois visible on the cliffs above the gorge. Eagle owl. Dogs on leash on the canyon path.
