Gola del Furlo — Via Flaminia Walk

The Gola del Furlo is the narrowest gorge in the Apennines — the limestone walls close to 15 m width at the tightest point. The Roman Via Flaminia road (220 BC) still runs through the gorge — original paving visible in sections. The Metauro river below has otter and the UNESCO-candidate eagle owl population (15+ nesting pairs in the gorge). Golden eagle nests on the west wall.
