Gola del Farma, Massa Marittima

The Gola del Farma near Massa Marittima cuts through the Metalliferous Hills in a 15 km limestone gorge. The Farma river is clean and clear — excellent for swimming in deep pools. Otter is present on the river. Kingfisher on every bend. The gorge is almost entirely shaded by holm oak and riparian forest — cool even in August. One of the best summer canyon walks in Tuscany. Dogs off-leash.
