Geoparc Bletterbach
Trentino-Alto Adige
Often called the Grand Canyon of the Dolomites, this UNESCO-listed gorge near Redagno and Aldino cuts through layered volcanic rock, sandstone and dolomite, with fossil footprints of Triassic reptiles found in its walls. A geology museum at the entrance explains the strata before the trail drops into the canyon itself, following the Bletterbach stream between towering red and grey cliffs.
