Giogo di Scarperia & Monte Gazzaro
Tuscany
The Giogo di Scarperia (882 m) was one of the hardest-fought points on the WWII Gothic Line, and remnants of the fighting still line the crest. From the pass the GEA long trail runs the beech ridge north to the pointed Monte Gazzaro (1,118 m) and the black ophiolite crag of the Sasso di San Zanobi, with the Mugello on one side and the Santerno valley on the other.
