Giardini Botanici Hanbury, La Mortola

Thomas Hanbury planted this terraced hillside from 1867 with palms, agaves, citrus and exotics from across the world, threaded by the original paving of the Via Julia Augusta down to a private cove. Now run by the University of Genoa, it is one of the great gardens of the Mediterranean.
