Pania della Croce, Garfagnana
Tuscany
Pania della Croce (1,858 m) is the highest summit of the Apuan Alps outside the marble mining zone. The Alpi Apuane are botanically unique — the combination of coastal climate with limestone peaks at altitude has produced 30+ endemic plant species found nowhere else on Earth. The north face has permanent snow patches in some years. The summit gives views from the Ligurian Sea to the Apennines.
