Ravascletto — Zoncolan
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Monte Zoncolan (1,750 m) above Ravascletto in the Carnia is one of the most feared climbs in professional cycling — the Giro d'Italia has used it as a finish at 22% gradient. In summer the mountain is silent; the walk up through spruce forest and out onto open alpine meadow reveals the Carnic Alps and Julian Alps together. Marmots are common.
