Forti di Nava & campi di lavanda
Liguria
The Colle di Nava, the low pass between Liguria and Piedmont at the head of the Arroscia valley, is guarded by five late-19th-century forts spread over the surrounding hills. In June and July the fields around them turn purple with lavender grown for essential oil — a Provence-like scene on the Italian side.
