Forte di Bard — Sentiero Storico
Aosta Valley
Fort Bard is a 19th-century fortress built after Napoleon's army was famously delayed here for 15 days in 1800 on their way to Marengo. The historical path climbing behind the fort passes Napoleonic-era fortifications and gives a sweeping view of the Aosta Valley narrows where the Dora Baltea squeezes through. The fort now houses an Alpine museum and photography museum.
