This trail climbs steadily from the village through working pastures, still watched over by Abruzzese shepherd dogs guarding sheep flocks, into denser beech forest as it gains the lower slopes of the Mainarde. It's a good introduction to the range for hikers based on the quieter Molise side of the park.
