Forlì's Piazza Saffi is anchored by the Basilica di San Mercuriale, its tall, narrow Romanesque bell tower one of the tallest in Romagna, visible above the surrounding rooftops from much of the flat city centre. The streets around the piazza are level and easy, distinct from the wooded Foreste Casentinesi further up the valley.
