This karst plateau at around 1000m was the Republic of Venice's timber reserve for centuries, and the tall beech stands still show it. Red deer and roe deer are common at dawn, and the Alpago rim gives long views south over the Piave valley. Cross-country ski trails in winter become easy walking loops the rest of the year.
