Molise
The Foce del Biferno near Termoli has a small coastal lagoon and sandy beach that is one of the few undeveloped river mouths on the Adriatic coast of Molise. Little tern, kentish plover and oystercatcher breed on the beach in May–June. The Adriatic here is clean and clear. Termoli's medieval borgo behind is picturesque.
