This dramatic cleft in the coastline, spanned by a towering road bridge, was long used by local fishermen as a sheltered mooring and now draws swimmers to its small pebble beach wedged between sheer cliffs. Steep stairways descend from the clifftop village of Furore, whose scattered houses give it the nickname "the town that doesn't exist".
