Ferentino's walls, built of huge irregular limestone blocks by the ancient Hernici before Roman rule, are among the best-preserved of Ciociaria's polygonal fortifications. A walk around their base leads up to the acropolis platform, itself built over even older foundations, with views across the Sacco valley.
