From the pass above Portovenere a track leads to the Forte Muzzerone and along the top of the vertical limestone walls that drop straight into the sea opposite Palmaria island — some of the best-known sport-climbing in Italy. The path continues on the AV5T toward Campiglia with the Gulf of Poets wide open below.
