Valle del Bove, Etna

The Valle del Bove is a 5 km wide caldera on Etna's eastern flank — the scar of a collapse 64,000 years ago. Most of Etna's eruptions flow into it. The rim trail above the valley reveals a landscape of overlapping lava flows in black, red and orange, steaming vents and the 3,357 m summit cone directly above.
