Eremo di Sant'Alberico

Emilia-Romagna

This trail from Premilcuore climbs through ancient beech and fir forest, part of the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park, toward a small isolated hermitage once used by monks seeking total solitude from the world below. Wolves, wild boar and even reintroduced apennine deer move through this stretch of forest, among the least disturbed woodland left in the northern Apennines.
