Eremo di San Bartolomeo in Legio

One of several hermitages founded by the hermit-pope Celestine V, this church is wedged so tightly into an overhanging cliff that its roof is the rock itself. The climb up carved stone steps from the valley floor is steep but short, ending at a terrace with sweeping views over the Orta valley and the Majella foothills.
