San Leonardo al Lago was an Augustinian hermitage beside a marshy lake (long since drained) in the Montagnola Senese. Its walls, tower and frescoed chapel stand in dense holm oak, and grassy lanes lead off through the wood — part of a protected area — toward the Grotta dell'Orso and the abbey of Torri.
