Dune di Lesina, Gargano

The dune system between the Lesina lagoon and the Adriatic on the Gargano is one of the few remaining natural dune systems on the southern Adriatic — over 10 km of mostly undeveloped coast. The Lesina lagoon behind the dunes is a fish farming lagoon famous for its wild eel population. Hoopoe and bee-eater breed in the dune vegetation in spring. Little tern nests on the beach.
