Covolo del Butistone, Cismon del Grappa

At the narrowest point of the Valbrenta, where the gorge pinches between cliff walls, a small fortress is wedged into a natural cave overhanging the road below — the Covolo del Butistone, held since at least the early medieval period to control passage through the valley. The cave-castle is visible from the valley road at Cismon del Grappa (now part of the comune of Valbrenta), with the Brenta river cutting through the gorge beneath it.
