Cori preserves both an unusually intact Roman-era Temple of Hercules, its Doric columns still upright above the lower town, and older cyclopean walls from its pre-Roman Volscian period. The upper town's streets climb steeply between the two, with views out over the former Pontine marshes toward the coast.
