The road above Ollomont ends at Glacier, from where a track climbs into the wide grassy amphitheatre of By, dotted with dairy huts and the ruins of 18th-century copper mines. The Grand Combin's glaciers hang directly above and the Fenêtre Durand pass to Switzerland is a longer option.
