Superga (672 m) dominates Turin's skyline — a baroque basilica built by Vittorio Amedeo II to fulfil a vow made during the 1706 French siege. The hilltop is also where the Grande Torino football team died in a 1949 plane crash. Walking up from Pino Torinese through the 'colli torinesi' is a half-day from the city centre.
