Colle Sant'Elia, Redipuglia
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Colle Sant'Elia was the first Italian war cemetery here; when the monumental Redipuglia ossuary (holding 100,000 fallen) was built opposite in 1938, the hill was turned into a "park of remembrance" with the original grave markers, relics and paths among the pines, looking across to the great stepped shrine and the Carso beyond.
