The Little St Bernard has carried travellers between Aosta and the Tarentaise since prehistory. On the col stand a prehistoric cromlech, a column to Jupiter, the old hospice and the Chanousia botanical garden; easy paths lead off along the frontier ridge with Mont Blanc close to the north.
