The upper Valpelline above Bionaz leads to the 2,876 m Colle della Croce on the Swiss border. The valley is rarely visited — the road from Bionaz ends early, and the remaining 3 hours on foot cross flowery alp meadows to a rocky col with the Grand Combin (4,314 m) overhead. Wolves have been reported regularly in recent years.
