Colla Micheri, Laigueglia
Liguria
Thor Heyerdahl bought and rescued the tiny abandoned hamlet of Colla Micheri in the 1950s. Its cobbled square, chapel and olive-terraced lanes sit on the saddle behind Laigueglia, reached by mule tracks from the village or Andora, with sea views on both sides and the old Via Aurelia running through.
