Above modern Bojano, a steep path climbs to Civita Superiore, the town's original hilltop settlement, largely abandoned after earthquakes and now half-reclaimed by scrub around the ruined Pandone castle. The climb is short but sharp, rewarded by a full view of the Matese wall and the flat Bojano plain below.
