Civita di Bagnoregio

Lazio

Civita sits on a crumbling pinnacle of volcanic tufa above the badland Valle dei Calanchi, slowly losing its edges to erosion. A 300 m footbridge is the only way in, to a tiny grid of Etruscan-rooted lanes, a Romanesque church and belvederes over the ravines.
