Promontorio del Circeo

Lazio

Monte Circeo was once an island — the mythological home of the sorceress Circe who turned Odysseus's men into pigs. Now connected to the mainland by dunes, the national park protects Mediterranean macchia, Neolithic caves and a dramatic summit with views over the Tyrrhenian and the Pontine Islands.
