Cima Vezzena
Trentino-Alto Adige
Cima Vezzena carries the ruins of an Austro-Hungarian fortress built just before WWI to guard the Trentino-Veneto frontier, and the climb up follows old military tracks through open pasture. From the summit the view spans the Vezzena and Asiago plateaus to the jagged Dolomites on the horizon. The area's traditional Vezzena cheese is still made at malghe along the approach.
