Cheneil

Aosta Valley

Cheneil's cluster of stone-roofed barns and chalets sits on a sunny shelf above Valtournenche, reachable only on foot or by a short cable car, and looks almost directly across at the Matterhorn's distinctive pyramid. Wildflower meadows surround the hamlet through summer, once part of a busy transhumance route between valley and high pasture. It's one of the gentlest, most accessible spots in the region for a close Matterhorn view without crowds.
